On March 8, about halfway through our exchange, right before we were to travel from Cebu City to Davao on the southern island of Mindanao for the Rotary District 3860 conference, team member Melissa Meade made the difficult decision to withdraw from the exchange for health reasons. This decision was difficult to make for all concerned. Everyone who met Melissa was impressed by her enthusiasm and wishes her well. Meanwhile, the GSE team continues the work it has started to deepen vocational perspectives, make better friendships, and build bridges that will benefit the people whose lives have touched us so profoundly. Our number has diminished, perhaps, but not our passion for what we have started.
